Welcome to the storybook

Once upon a time, Bob Dylan sang, “How many sprints must a man walk down, before you call him a UX designer?” Here you can find my years of progress at a glance.

Megvii, Beijing

My time working at Megvii is one of my favorite chocolates in the box. Back in that time, I was working with some of the best AI scientists in China to build prototypes to show our latest technology on MegTech 2021, where thousands of guests and potential clients would come. I had to figure out how to turn the cold algorithm codes into attractive demos.

The result is satisfying, and one of our demos using computer vision for contactless payment has been selected by the CEO to become a real business project.

Skills - AIUX/Design System/Web/App/User testing/Agile

Art Center, Los Angeles

Another famous song sings, “California dreaming, on Dutch a winter’s day.” Who doesn't miss the sunshine in California while riding a bike in the wind and pouring rain in Eindhoven : )

In Art Center, I was focused on implementing emerging technologies into daily life and researching speculative design on posthumanism, sustainability, and political polarization. For example, I developed an AR program to predict and visualize people’s political ideologies. I learned a lot about equity in design and imagined designing out of the capitalist framework.

Thanks to my friends in Seattle and Silicon Valley, I visited the headquarters of many leading tech companies like Amazon and Microsoft. I had coffee chats with brilliant designers who are actually changing the world with the power of design, which made me start thinking about what kind of designer I want to become in 10 years.

Skills - XR/JS+CSS/Prototyping

TikTok, Shanghai

Collaborating with stakeholders all around the world is an interesting experience: the sales team in the UK, the PM team in Indonesia, the design team in the US, etc. Sometimes I could see the same UX strategy succeed in one country but fail in another, which made me start thinking about the influence of the cultural aspect and level of development on UIUX.

Skills - International Perspective/Enterprise product/Web/App/Front-end

TU Eindhoven, Eindhoven

Het leven wordt elke dag beter! For sponsored design projects, I had some Dutch Companies as clients such as Philips, Adelante, Repair Cafe, etc. I conduct user research and provide digital or physical solutions for the business problems they encounter. Their positive feedback on my bold design encouraged me a lot. Life in the Netherlands is pretty fun! beers, museums, and snow in March, not to mention crazy biking to Belgium with local friends! I enjoy crossing the borders of countries, and design also.

Skills - UX Theory/UX Research/IoT System/Service Design

Philips Domestic Appliances, Drachten

During my second semester, I took an internship at Philips Domestic Appliance(Now renamed Versuni). I worked with the coffee R&D team to explore and develop new features for the Philips smart coffee machine and Philips Coffee+ app.

During 5 months, I went through previous research results and learned a lot about IoT and AIUX design. I conducted user research and made some interesting interactive prototypes.

Skills - IoT/App/Computer vision

ING, Amsterdam

Well, it feels amazing to design the orange app I myself use every day, and even more amazing when you feel your design can have an impact on 37,000,000+ users! I’m on the team focusing on consumer-facing digital finance services. Starting a creative day with a free cup of Macchiato is my favorite part.

Skills - Banking design knowledge/Web/App/Rapid Prototyping/User Testing
